THE RED BARN FAMILY

Jeff McKusker had always wanted to turn his family farm of 65 years into a wedding venue. He saw his opportunity when his son Jake began dating his now wife, Katie, who happened to be in the wedding industry. When Jake proposed, he told Katie he wanted to get married on the farm in Iowa. With only about 5 months between their proposal and the wedding date, Katie thought there was no way the farm was going to be ready to host over 300 people. Walls were taken down, the building was expanded, bathrooms were added, the kitchen doubled in size, over 10,000 sq. feet of concrete was poured and the Red Barn at Pine Creek Ranch wedding venue was born.

Since 2018, we have made it our goal to provide our couples with a unique wedding experience and a personal touch. We never wanted to be a wedding factory which is why we provide our clients with the entire weekend for their wedding. In many cases, Jeff and wife Lori, are behind the scenes on wedding day, making sure everything is perfect. Jeff is usually the guy driving the tractor that pulls the trolly! You may also see Karly, Jeff’s daughter who takes care of the books. Karly lives on the other side of the property with her family in the original farm house that Jeff grew up in. Jake is an electrician by trade but does a lot of the hard labor to keep the Red Barn sparkling. Katie manages all things Red Barn and is there for any client, any time. She also keeps Jeff in line! Together we are always coming up with new ways to make the Red Barn a destination wedding venue and we are all so excited to see the projects unfold over the next few years!
